Over the last 30 years we have trained with and studied a variety of experts, each with their own unique perspective logically influenced by their experiences. Our approach is to extract relevant content from each point of view and pragmatically adopt it to the civilian self defense community. ​​

1041 takes key concepts from the appropriate experts and simplifies them to consumable and practical skills that can be easily taught and learned by our clients. By breaking skills down into fundamental concepts and delivering these concepts using skilled adult education techniques, we can dramatically increase our client's practical ability to defend themselves. 

 

Since 2016, we have trained over 3000 clients, all from word-of-mouth referrals.  We have continued to study and learn as well, attaining certifications in Shotgun, CCW, Pistol, Refuse To Be a Victim (unarmed) and becoming a Chief Range Safety Officer.  We continue to compete in USPSA and IDPA practical shooting competitions monthly, keeping our skills and gear up to date and sharp.

While no one can predict what you may encounter in an emergency, we can instill basic concepts (gun handling fundamentals, shooting on the move or seeking cover, for example) that will increase the likelihood that you can effectively survive and prevail in a violent encounter. Practice these skills over time (repeating the drills we show you) and you will have the building blocks to address your particular challenge.

We typically teach in a private, one-on-one setting or in very small groups to ensure that we can coach each student effectively. It's a high-touch, relational approach to training. Our training is not the cheapest and it's not for everyone.  Our experience is in the critical moments when your skills are most needed price is wont be your first concern.
